CELEBRATING PAKISTANI INDEPENDENCE AND STRENGTHENING MAURITIUS-PAKISTAN TIES

The Mau-Pak Association was recently registered and presided over by Mr Iqbal Belath, retired vice governor of the Bank of Mauritius, Mr Jacques Tsang Mang Kin, practising barrister and former president of the Chinese Business Chamber, having as secretary and treasurer Mr Reza Lallmahomed and Mr A Samad Rossaye respectively, hosted an event on 14th August at l'Assiette D'Antan in Moka, to welcome the High Commissioner Designate, Mr. Syed Zahid Raza and to celebrate the 78th independence anniversary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The Mau-Pak Association has emanated through the endeavour of the previous High Commissioner of Pakistan in Mauritius, Mr Arsad Jan Pathan, to unify the trade and cultural values between Mauritius and Pakistan, with a long-term vision of being the pivot on a common platform for the two countries.

With the support of the office of the high commission of Pakistan in Mauritius, the Mau-Pak Association intends to bring under one roof many activities, to further enhance these cultural and corporate values, for the benefit of both countries.

Mau-Pak Association has about a hundred members of Mauritian nationality, and will soon be embarking on a regional level. The official website www.mau-pak.org will be operational imminently for smoother communication.
